Josephine McMurty

Josephine (Jo) McMurtry enjoys sketching animals of many kinds.   In pursuit of subjects she visits zoos, horse shows, wildlife centers, natural history museums, and sometimes just a favorite tree beside a stream.  She is a resident of Kendal at Lexington, a retirement community whose 84-acre campus includes trees, streams, and a variety of interesting creatures.  Many of Jo’s other sketching destinations are close at hand in Rockbridge County.

 Jo has taken classes for many years at the Studio School of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, in Richmond, and at the Beverley Street Studio School, in Staunton.  She highly recommends them both.
